Cole Hocker Wins Zurich Diamond League 1500m

Cole Hocker won the Zurich Diamond League 1500m in 3:31.71 in his second race back from injury, while Jakob Ingebrigtsen finished fifth.

Cole Hocker Wins Zurich Diamond League 1500m

Cole Hocker is already back in the win column.

The Olympic champion won the men's 1500 meters at the Diamond League Zurich meet on Aug. 27, clocking 3:31.71 in just his second race since returning from injury on Aug. 23. Hocker narrowly held off Kenya's Phanuel Koech Kipkosgei, who finished second in 3:31.84, and American Yared Nuguse, who was third in 3:31.85.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen also was making his second Diamond League appearance since returning on Aug. 23 from an Achilles injury. The Norwegian finished fifth in 3:32.16 as he continued working his way back into racing form.

The result was a reversal from Aug. 23, when Hocker and Ingebrigtsen were both knocking off the rust and lost to 23-year-old ethan strand. Strand finished 10th Thursday in 3:32.95.

For Hocker, Zurich provided a quick indication that his return is gaining momentum. Four days after making his comeback, the Olympic champion defeated a deep field to secure the Diamond League victory.
