Monaco does not do modest. Especially not with a handful of world record holders set to compete. On Friday night, Stade Louis-II runs the 40th edition of the Meeting Herculis EBS, breeding some of the deepest fields of the season. It is the tenth stop of the 2026 tour, six days after the Prefontaine Classic, and it is the meet the record books lean forward for.It is where Faith Kipyegon lowered the women's mile world record to 4:07.64, where Jessica Hull ran a 2000m world best in 5:19.70, and where Joshua Cheptegei surged to 12:35.36, breaking the 5000m world record.This meeting has history and it continues July 10.

On July 18, Josh Kerr will attempt to break the standing Mile World Record of 3:43.13, set by Hicham El Guerrouj in 1999. The attempt has been labeled Project 222, which would translate to 222 seconds and thus a 3:42 mile.

The spotlight was on Hayward Field this weekend, as the world’s best gathered for the iconic Prefontaine Classic to put on a show for the 4th of July. Fireworks were not the only spectacle of the weekend, as athletes lit up the track and field with multiple meeting and national records.

He stopped the clock at 19.75 seconds in the men's 200m at the 2026 Prefontaine Classic on Saturday afternoon to stun TrackTown and the track world, walking away with a new US high school national record and one of the fastest times ever run by an under-20 athlete. It also made him the winner of a Diamond League race at just 18 years old in a field that included the reigning Olympic champion.

It was the Fourth of July, and at Hayward Field, that meant the Prefontaine Classic. Friday night set the stage with Parker Wolfe winning the men's two mile in 8:10.13 over Mohamed Abdilaahi's 8:10.34 personal best and Grant Fisher in third. Sub-eight stayed out of reach, but the depth was real. Saturday closed the show with a programme built around one of the deepest fields it has ever assembled.

American track and field has always kept its holy days at Hayward Field. The Olympic Trials come here, as do the NCAA Championships and the Prefontaine Classic - named after legendary Steve Prefontaine, who left his mark on American distance running.
