Since 2009, The Bowerman Award has celebrated the best collegiate track and field athletes in the NCAA. The Bowerman is an honor given annually to one of three finalists who boast outstanding track seasons. The winner is chosen by a panel of voters made up of previous Bowerman winners, The Bowerman Advisory Board, media, and the fans. Ultimately, one male and one female athlete will be awarded the greatest honor given in the NCAA when The Bowerman is announced on Friday, Dec. 16, in Orlando, Florida.

The Bowerman, collegiate track and field's highest individual honor, will be awarded live on FloTrack starting at 7:00 PM Eastern on Friday, December 16. The men's finalists are Arkansas jumper/sprinter Jarrion Lawson, Oregon distance runner Edward Cheserek, and Texas A&M middle distance runner Donavan Brazier. Below, we break down who we think should win, and who we think will win.
  4. Despite NCAA XC Loss, Cheserek Can Still Become The GOAT

Despite NCAA XC Loss, Cheserek Can Still Become The GOAT

    Dec 15, 2016

Last month, we saw Oregon's Edward Cheserek lose to Villanova's Patrick Tiernan and Syracuse's Justyn Knight at the NCAA cross country championships. In doing so, Cheserek--who was coming off of three straight NCAA cross country titles--fell short of becoming the first athlete to win a fourth NCAA cross country title.

  7. Bowerman Debate: Cheserek's Indoor Triple vs. Lawson's Outdoor Triple

Bowerman Debate: Cheserek's Indoor Triple vs. Lawson's Outdoor Triple

    Dec 13, 2016

Two of the 2016 Bowerman finalists pulled off notable triples this past season. Oregon's Edward Cheserek won the indoor 5,000m, distance medley relay, and 3,000m in March. Arkansas's Jarrion Lawson won the outdoor long jump, 100m, and 200m in June. The question is, which triple was more impressive? We decided to break down both feats and compare the two.
  8. Clayton Murphy Wasn't Just Snubbed For The Bowerman, He Was All-Time Great

Clayton Murphy Wasn't Just Snubbed For The Bowerman, He Was All-Time Great

    Dec 8, 2016

When the three men's Bowerman finalists were announced back in June, notably missing from the nominations was Akron's Clayton Murphy. Obviously, whenever you have to narrow a list of college track and field's stars to just three there will be deserving athletes who are not picked. However, I believe Clayton Murphy was not only a snubbed of a Bowerman nod but also arguably had one of the greatest college seasons ever for a mid-distance runner.
