Altitude Athletes Won The XC Weekend

It's a not-so-secret secret that living and training at altitude can make you a better runner, and even more so if you were born there. That fact stuck out while looking through this past weekend's NCAA cross country results. In fact, four of the weekend's marquee meets were uniformly dominated by men and women who were either born at altitude or live and train there now. Things We Learned From The First Big Weekend Of NCAA XC

Finally! We can all let out that collective breath we've been holding in since late June, because the competitive NCAA XC season is finally getting interesting. Forty-one FloXC-ranked teams (plus countless individuals) competed this weekend across the country, with many meeting at the Joe Piane Notre Dame XC Invitational, Louisville Commission XC Classic, the Bill Dellinger Invitational at the University of Oregon, Paul Short Run, Chile Pepper XC Festival in Fayetteville, and the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

In the first test of the fall cross country season, the BYU Cougars emerged as a unified stronghold against some of the nation's top-ranked teams at the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Friday in Springfield, Oregon.

Top-Ranked Stanford, Oregon, BYU, UW Clash At Bill Dellinger Invitational

The University of Oregon will host the annual Bill Dellinger Invitational tomorrow in Springfield, Oregon, their season opener after the Oregon XC Preview scheduled for early September was unfortunately cancelled due to toxic air conditions. The high-level competition expected for the men's 8K and women's 6K make the longer wait worth it, as we will see several top-10 nationally ranked squads duke it out on the Ducks' home turf. Every week you will get to select five athletes to your all-star squad as well as your team predictions. After the completion of each meet you will earn a team score based on your selected roster.
