Josh Hoey Sets 800m Indoor American Record at 2025 Millrose Games
Josh Hoey set a new American Record in the 800m at the 2025 Millrose Games in 1:43.90. Cooper Lutkenhaus set the U.S. High School record (1:46:86).

Josh Hoey set a new American Record in the 800m at the 2025 Millrose Games in 1:43.90. Bryce Hoppel, the reigning World Indoor Champion in the event, finished second with a new Personal Best (1:44.19).
Jonah Koech took third, also earning a new Personal Best (1:44.82)
Cooper Lutkenhaus from Northwest High School in Justin, TX took sixth and set a new High School national record (1:46:86).

After narrowly missing a spot on Team USA in the 800m for the 2024 Olympics after finishing fourth at the 2024 Olympic Trials, Hoey has been on a tear so far in the 2024-2025 season.
In December at the BU Opener, Hoey ran a personal best of 3:52.61 in the indoor mile, taking first place in the event.
On January 18, Hoey set a new American record in the short track 1000 meters (2:14.48) at the Quaker Invitational at the University of Pennsylvania, breaking Shane Streich's previous record of 2:16.16 by almost two seconds.
On February 2, Hoey won the 1500 meters at the 2025 New Balance Grand Prix, in a new personal best of 3:33.66, taking down Olympians Grant Fisher and Olli Hoare.
When Are The Millrose Games?
The 2025 Millrose Games are slated to begin at 11:10 AM on Saturday, February 8. The event will begin with the men's distance medley relay, followed by the women's race. The meet will conclude at 5:50 PM with the NYRR Men's Wanamaker Mile.
