Yared Nuguse Sets Indoor Mile World Record at 2025 Millrose Games
Yared Nuguse set a new World Record in the indoor mile at the 2025 Millrose Games in 3:46.63, taking this third Wanamaker Mile championship in a row.
Yared Nuguse set a new World Record in the indoor mile at the 2025 Millrose Games in 3:46.63, taking this third Wanamaker Mile championship in a row in the prestigious event. Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha (3:47.01 in 2019) had the previous all-time mark.
Hobbs Kessler took second with a new Personal Best (3:46.90). Cam Myers finished third, claiming a new Australian National Record (3:47.48).
Gary Martin from University of Virginia ran the second-fastest collegiate time ever (3:48.82), finishing fifth. Martin's time was just off the 3:48.32 mark set by University of North Carolina's Ethan Strand at BU Terrier Classic last weekend.

Nuguse, the 2024 Olympic 1500m bronze medalist, claimed the Wanamaker Mile title at 2024 Millrose Games in 3:47.83 and won the 2023 version of the event in 3:47.38. Nuguse's time in the 2023 Wanamaker Mile was the previous #2 all-time world mark.
The 2025 version of the event was supposed to feature a showdown between Nuguse and 2024 1500m World Champion Josh Kerr; however, Kerr scratched from the event earlier in the day due to an illness.
When Are The Millrose Games?
The 2025 Millrose Games are slated to begin at 11:10 AM on Saturday, February 8. The event will begin with the men's distance medley relay, followed by the women's race. The meet will conclude at 5:50 PM with the NYRR Men's Wanamaker Mile.
