Tracksmith has officially introducted Tracksmith Stamata ahead of the 2028 U.S. Marathon Team Trials. Stamata is a women's marathon team led by eight-time trials qualifier, Stephanie Bruce.

With the team, Tracksmith aims to provide support and resources to the next generation of women marathoners.

Applications for acceptance into the program are currently open. While there are no official cut-offs, Tracksmith has listed a 1:17 half marathon or a 2:42 full marathon as performance level guidelines for application.

Tracksmith Stamata will invite athletes to dedicated training camps and strategic Olympic Trials Qualifier (OTQ) attempts. Each spring and fall the program will select target races and collectively focus on the Olympic Standards.

The team's debut marathon target is the California International Marathon. Stephanie Bruce will act as a mentor and pacer, guiding the group through at OTQ pace.

Athletes will race in the brand new Tracksmith Eliot Racers and a distinctive racing kit. Team members will then also receive $1000 stipend gift cards to order additional gear. Tracksmith will aslo offer support with travel stipends, access to nutrition, sports sciences and sports pysch support, and time bonuses.

For Tracksmith, Tracksmith Stamata is the newest program in its portfolio. Tracksmith also offers an Amateur Support Program, an initiative aimed at bridging the gap for emerging professionals. That program provides elite amateurs with a kit, competition expenses and on-the-ground resources at major events. Notable "graduates" from the program include Chris Bailey, Kiera D'Amato, American Record Holder Rudy Winkler, and Freddie Crittenden.

Why Is It Called Stamata?

The marathon was one of 43 events at the Athens Games in 1896. A Greek woman named Stamata Revithi was denied the chance to race with the field of men.

The next day, Stamata ran the full course alone and finished in 5:30:00 to become the first woman to complete the marathon distance.
