Donavan Brazier Ready To Challenge On The World Stage Again

All eyes are on Donavan Brazier at the London Diamond League meeting on Saturday July 19. Earlier this year, Brazier made a prolific return to the track at Toad Fest. It was his first race since 2022.

Then, at Portland Track Fest, Brazier ran 1:43.81 over 800m. That time ranks him as the fifth fastest American this year. As you'd expect - this has fans very excited about the 2019 World Champ's return to the sport.

US Audiences can watch Brazier race LIVE on FloTrack.

Brazier will toe the line with 2024 Olympic Champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi, 2024 Olympic Silver Medalist Marco Arop and American Record Holder Bryce Hoppel.

A Grand Rapids Native, Donavan Brazier Is Set For London DL

Donavan Brazier is scheduled to be in the 800 meter line-up on Saturday, July 19th for the Wanda Diamond League Meeting in London.

Brazier, who has made a triumphant return to competition this summer following three years away from the sport due to various injuries, honed his skills in the early stages of his athletics career at Kenowa Hills High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

A 2015 graduate, Brazier was dominant throughout the Wolverine State during his scholastic tenure, winning back-to-back MHSAA LP-1 State Championships as a junior and senior in addition to a MITS State Championship during his senior campaign.

The aforementioned state titles were all earned in his signature event, the 800 meter run. Brazier's success was not limited just to within state bounds, however.

The above is a passage from an article detailing Donavan Brazier's roots and road to the Diamond League in 2025. Read the Full Article on MileSplit.

Preview: Men's 800m The Men's 800m Gains Wildcard Brazier

Harry Prevor previewed the full London Diamond League meeting on FloTrack. Here is a piece of what he had to say about the men's 800m. You can read the full article here.

If Brazier wins over the Olympic champ Wanyonyi in London, we'll have seen enough to say he can win Worlds if he stays healthy. But the men's 800m has evolved significantly since Brazier's peak, with 1:41 now becoming the norm to win a quality Diamond League race.
