The 2025 Sydney Marathon is set to take place at 4 p.m. ET on Aug 30. The newest addition to the Abbott World Marathon Majors is set to boast 35,000 runners as they take on the 42.195km. 

In its inaugural year as an Abbott World Major, the Sydney Marathon will include some of the biggest stars in the world of racing.

Olympic champion Sifan Hassan, five-time Abbott World Marathon winner Brigid Kosgei and 2024 Sydney Marathon winner Workenesh Edsea are just a few of the runners competing in the Elite Women’s division. 

On the Elite Men’s field, two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge, the ninth-fastest man in history Birhanu Legese and the third-place runner in the 2025 Tokyo Marathon Vincent Ngetich are some of the top names in the division.
