The Marathon Project will make a triumphant return this weekend in Chandler, Arizona. The races first running since its first edition in 2020, the race promises a targeted attempt at elite performance standards, while pairing a uniquely fast race course with near-perfect race conditions.

Audiences can stream The Marathon Project 2025 LIVE on FloTrack on Sunday, December 21.

There are over 80 men entered in the men's professional field but a few notables stick out as men to watch in this year's race.

Of course, Paul Chelimo is arguably the most exciting name on the entry list. A two-time Olympic Medalist, Chelimo has found plenty of success in his professional career. Sadly, those highs have not yet translated to success on the roads.

In 2024, Chelimo was an early DNF at the Olympic Trials. That race would've served as his first time completing the marathon distance. Instead, he completed the full 26.2 miles at the Generali Maratón de Málaga in Spain last December. That was his last marathon.

Brian Shrader enters with the fastest personal best on the men's side. He ran 2:09:46 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon, but has backed up that performance with a 2:10:25 in 2024 and a 2:10:29 performance at the 2025 Sydney Marathon. He finished 12th in Sydney.

Shrader currently coaches as an assistant at Harvard University, ironically where he met the next name on our radar, Ben Rosa.

Rosa graduated from Harvard University in the spring after finishing tenth at the NCAA Championships in the 10,000m. He has a 10K personal best of 28:35.58, but has made the jump to the marathon distance under the guidance of Coach Alex Gibby.

Sunday will serve as Rosa's marathon debut.

Thomas Fafard could make waves when all is said and done. He represented Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and has a 13:05.07 best over 5,000m. Fafard has also found some success over the half marathon distance with a personal best of 1:02:17 at the Boston Half Marathon.

Thomas Broatch, Johannes Motschmann and JP Flavin are more than capable of taking the win, as well.

Sunday's race winner will walkaway with $10,000, with second place taking home $5,000 worth of prize money
