Tate Taylor SHATTERS 300m HS National Record
Tate Taylor destroyed the previous HS National Record at the 2026 VA Showcase with his 32.45 showing.
In his first race at the 300m distance, Tate Taylor shredded the previous HS Indoor National Record of 32.64 and established a mark that may stand for a very long time. At the 2026 VA Showcase, Taylor lurched out to a late-race lead and came away with the win in 32.45.
That mark shaves .19 off of the previous HS National Record. Jake Odey-Jordan finished second in 32.64, tying the previous mark.

Just last week Taylor ran 20.85 over 200m at the Texas High School Indoor Championship. That time is just outside of the top ten fastest times ran in HS History. That being said, Taylor already owns the HS National Record in that event with his 20.46 from 2025.
Taylor added to his resume in a big way today, by breaking a record set by Brian Herron in 2018 (32.64 300m) and tied by Jayden Horton-Mims in 2025.
Taylor's training partner, Odey-Jordan, crossed the line just behind Taylor. He is now tied for second all-time in the event.
"It didn't matter if I beat him (Odey-Jordan) to be honest," Taylor told FloTrack following today's race. "I just wanted to push him to his absolute limit and if that means he beat me then so be-it but I'm glad we both got the national record."
