On Wednesday morning, event organizers announced the international women's entries for the 2026 TCS London Marathon, with defending champion and women-only world record holder Tigst Assefa set to headline the race alongside Sifan Hassan and Peres Jepchirchir.

The 2026 TCS London Marathon is set to take place on Sunday, April 26.

Looking to defend her title from 2025, Tigst Assefa will be coming into the TCS London marathon with a solid resume that holds appearances from London and Berlin twice and the Paris2024 Olympic Games and 2025 World Championships.

Since 2022, Assefa has not just won Berlin (twice) and London, but also set a then world record of 2:11:53 and followed that up with a women-only world record time of 2:15:50. 

Assefa will be facing off against Hassan and Jepchirchir, who both have handed her major defeats at the 2024 TCS London Marathon, the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This will be the first time since Paris 2024 that these three will be going head-to-head together.

"Winning last year's TCS London Marathon and setting a women-only world record was one of the proudest moments of my career and I want to repeat that again this year. To do that I know I will have to beat great champions like Peres and Sifan. They have been tough competitors for me and we have had some great battles, I hope this year I can come out on top," said Assefa.

Other notables include the 2021 TCS London Marathon Champion, Joyciline Jepkosgei, the two-time TCS New York City Marathon + two-time Boston Marathon champion, Hellen Obiri, and Uruguayan's first World Championship medalist, Julia Paternain.
