Femke Bol Breaks Dutch Record in Sub-2:00 800m Debut at World Indoor Metz
In her 800m debut, Femke Bol clocks 1:59.07 for the win and a Dutch national record.

Femke Bol added another impressive line to her resume on Sunday, winning her debut 800m race in 1:59.07 at the World Athletics Indoor Tour meeting in Metz, France. The time dipped under the two-minute barrier and set a new Dutch indoor record.
Switzerland’s Valentina Rosamilia and Lore Hoffmann closed hard over the final stretch, but Bol held on comfortably for the win, with both chasers finishing just under two minutes.

Bol is already one of the most accomplished quarter-miler, highlighted by her world indoor 400m record of 49.17 and 2024 World Indoor Championship in the event and her multiple global titles in the 400m hurdles.
While the performance won’t immediately shake up the global 800m hierarchy, it was an intriguing first look at Bol’s potential beyond one lap. For an athlete with elite speed and growing endurance, the move up in distance signals added range, as she continues to push the limits of her versatility.
