Can Keely Hodgkinson Get The 800m World Record In Lievin 2026?
The World Indoor Tour meeting in Lievin could provide the platform for a new World Record over 800m for Keely Hodgkinson.

The World Indoor Tour meeting in Lievin could play host to one of the fastest 800m races in World History - as Keely Hodgkinson is set to challenge a 24-year-old Indoor 800m Record.
Hodgkinson most recently ran a British National Record at the UK Championships, posting a 1:56.33 in the first round. She opted out of the final to save her legs for later in the season.
US Audiences can watch Hodgkinson and the full WIT Lievin meeting LIVE on FloTrack, on Thursday, February 19.

In 2002, Jolanda Ceplak of Slovenia ran an incredible 1:55.82 for Gold at the European Championships and the new World Record. She was following closely by Stephanie Graf and her 1:55.85. Graf is currently No. 2 on the All-Time lists.
Notably, both Ceplak and Graf later serving suspensions for anti-doping violations.
Hodgkinson, is currently third - and she certainly has the resume to capture that 800m World Record. She still holds the World Best over the 600m Indoors (1:23.41), and an outdoor personal best of 1:54.61 over 800m for sixth on the all-time list.
Then you can look at her honors. Over the 800m distance she has an Olympic Gold, an Olympic Silver, three World Championship medals, a Diamond League Final victory, Four European Championship Golds, and nine victories on the Diamond League circuit. She has consistently been one of the best to grace the sport.
Hodgkinson's competition in Lievin features Audrey Werro (Switzerland) and Tsige Duguma (Ethiopia). Werro ran 1:57.27 for a World Lead at the World Indoor Tour meeting in Belgrade. Duguma was runner-up to Hodgkinson at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Either one of these women could steal the spotlight on Thursday.
They will be paced by Anna Gryc through 400m in 55.80.
