The 2026 Sound Running Track Fest is less than two weeks out and from the looks of it, the SKECHERS Men's 1500m is primed to be one of the top events of the night.
While there are a few tried and true milers set to toe the line, some of the heavy-hitters are stepping down from the long distance circuit to give their turnover a test.

2024 Olympians Nico Young and Graham Blanks, as well as USATF and NCAA national champion Parker Wolfe, are a few of the household names, but their long distance prowess won't be as lethal in a field of 1500m specialists.
Young, the 23-year-old with a 12:45 5k to his name, has one of the most impressive mile PBs in the field, coming in the form of a 3:48.72 he clocked at the 118th Millrose Games in February. At the Armory, Young came through 1500m in 3:33.98, which would be his 1500m PB by over half a second. The ninth-fastest American miler of all time may be primarily known for his longer distances, but if he's within striking distance around the final curve, don't say I didn't warn you.
One person who won't be caught off guard by Young is one of his training partners, Parker Wolfe, the former North Carolina Tar Heel who has fit in quite well at the professional level. Similar to Young, Wolfe has rarely brought his talents below the 3000m, but his road mile PB of 3:48.1 and 1500m best of 3:34.24 show the speed is there.
The third member of the distance trio stepping down is Graham Blanks, a Harvard legend who already has a trip to the Olympics under his belt before his 25th birthday. The last time the Georgia native ran a 1500m was in 2025 at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, where he crossed in 3:36.11.
All three men are familiar with the demands of mid-distance racing, but they'll need to lean on that familiarity and experience to come out on top of what could be a very tactical race.
Obviously, in addition to the distance threats, Cooper Teare, Eric Holt, and the fastest seed in the field, Vincent Ciattei, are no slouches in the 1500m, and have their sights set on an early-season confidence booster ahead of a busy summer.
Teare, who is only 26, has seen his fair share of fast times and high-stakes racing, most of the time right in the thick of it. In February, he clocked 3:50.49 in the mile at the Sound Invite in North Carolina, and also threw down a blistering 2:17.76 1k a week prior to flex his speed. It's not even June and the times suggest he's in some of the best shape of his career, and on top of that, he's due.
Joined by Vincent Ciattei and Eric Holt, two experienced veterans of the sport, there's a very good chance the clock reads 3:31-something when it's all said and done. Ciattei's lifetime PB of 3:31.67 came last August in Germany, with Holt's mark of 3:32.95 also coming from last summer's slate of racing.
Throw in Luke Houser, Nathan Green, Liam Murphy, and the people's champ, Cooper Cawthra, and you've got yourself a highly anticipated race on deck.
