Silesian Stadium in Chorzów has a nickname. In Polish it's Kocioł Czarownic - the Witches' Cauldron. Fifty-five thousand seats built into a ring so steep the noise pours onto the track and while it may be one of the loudest tracks in Europe, it is also one of the fastest. Exactly the kind of place where magic happens when the Cauldron gets stirred.

US audiences can watch all the action LIVE on FloTrack, August 22 - 23.

Some of the season's most audacious performances happen at the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial and this year will be no different.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen returns to the site of his 7:17.55 3000m world record for his first 1500m race in almost a year - just under two weeks after taking European 5000m gold. Karsten Warholm meets Alison dos Santos and Abderrahman Samba in a 400m hurdles field that reads like a global final.

A handful of the world's top ten women line up in the 100m, and Oblique Seville, joined by Kenny Bednarek, Jordan Anthony and Trayvon Bromell, lines up in the men's version against a field just as loaded. Nicola Olyslagers meets Yaroslava Mahuchikh again in what has been one of the season's best rivalries.

Every event carries a headline of its own.

The King Returns: Jakob Ingebrigtsen's First 1500m in Almost a Year

Eleven months out with injury and just over a week ago in Birmingham, Ingebrigtsen was back on the track winning his fourth-straight European 5000m title. Now, on Sunday in Silesia, he goes down in distance.

The field, however, won't be letting him waltz back. Isaac Nader is the reigning 1500m world champion, having caught Jake Wightman at the line in Tokyo last September in 3:34.10. Wightman - the 2022 world champion - will be on this start line too. Cole Hocker, the Paris 2024 Olympic champion whose 3:27.65 career best puts him among the fastest 1500m runners in history, joins them. Reynold Cheruiyot (3:29.91 PB) and Vincent Ciattei (3:30.90 PB) are also in the mix.

Ingebrigtsen's personal best over the distance is 3:26.73 - the fourth-fastest 1500m ever run. Sunday is where we find out what eleven months and another European title have done to one of the sport's most decorated middle-distance runners.

Warholm, dos Santos & Samba Meet Over the One-Lap Barriers

Three of the fastest four 400m hurdlers in history will run on the same track. Warholm holds the world record at 45.94 - a mark that has redefined what the event is even about. Dos Santos sits at 46.29 and Abderrahman Samba at 46.98, the fourth-fastest all-time.

The three of them together in one race is always a version of the 400m hurdles that fans want. They have lined up before, but injuries have kept those meetings scarce. Silesia gets them back again.

Ezekiel Nathaniel (47.11 PB) has spent the year pushing into the global conversation. Americans Trevor Bassitt (47.37 PB), Caleb Dean (47.23 PB) and Brazil's Matheus Lima (47.37 PB) make it a seven-deep sub-47.50 lineup.

This is one of the races the men's 400m hurdles has been building towards all year.

The Sprint Doubleheader: Two Stacked 100m Fields in Silesia

Loaded with the world's best, these races are going to be fast.

Women's 100m: Melissa Jefferson-Wooden lands as the 2025 world 100m champion and world number one with a 10.61 career best. Julien Alfred is the Paris 2024 Olympic 100m champion and world number two. Sha'Carri Richardson brings her 10.65 personal best to the mix. Add twin sisters Tina and Tia Clayton, newly crowned Commonwealth Games 100m champion Zoe Hobbs, and Ewa Swoboda, and it is one of the deepest women's 100m fields this year.

Men's 100m: Oblique Seville - the world number one, with a 9.77 PB - headlines a field that includes Kenneth Bednarek (9.79 PB), Kayinsola Ajayi (9.84 SB), Emmanuel Eseme (9.83 PB), Lachlan Kennedy (9.85 PB) and Akani Simbine (9.82 PB). Then throw in the likes of Christian Coleman, Trayvon Bromell, Ronnie Baker, Andre De Grasse, Ackeem Blake, and Jeremiah Azu - and the start list becomes even stronger.

Quick times will find both - but who pops up on the results board first is what we're waiting to see.

The Bar Keeps Climbing: Olyslagers and Mahuchikh Face Off Again in the High Jump

The women's high jump continues to produce one of the most compelling head-to-heads in the sport. Olyslagers, who took gold in Tokyo last September, came out victorious over Mahuchikh in their most recent meeting at the London Diamond League.

They meet again in Silesia.

Olyslagers arrives with a 2.04m career best and a 2.01m season best. Mahuchikh brings her 2.10m world record and 2.01m season best. Yuliia Levchenko (2.02m PB) and Maria Żodzik (2.00m PB) are on the start list. Eleanor Patterson (2.02m PB), who was recently crowned the 2026 Commonwealth Games champion and edged out Olyslagers to get there, will also be on the runway.

Every meeting has added a line to the story and Sunday adds the next.

Paulino Faces Jaeger and Naser in the Women's 400m

Marileidy Paulino is the reigning Olympic and world 400m champion, holds the Diamond League record over one lap and owns a career best of 47.98.

Then there is Henriette Jaeger. The 22-year-old Norwegian sprints into Silesia fresh off European 400m gold in a national record of 49.04 and her first senior individual major title. She also collected mixed 4x400m gold in Birmingham and is currently the fifth-fastest woman in the world this year.

Salwa Eid Naser - the 2019 world champion - brings to the stage a 48.14 career best and a habit of running her best when it matters. Natalia Bukowiecka, the 2024 European champion, headlines the home charge. Add American Aaliyah Butler, Jamaica's Nickisha Pryce and Stacey Ann Williams, Netherlands' Lieke Klaver, and Cuba's Roxana Gómez, and the women's 400m has nine women all inside 50 seconds.

One of the fastest women's 400m fields of the year meets a track that has never been shy of fast times.

Tinch, Tharp, Britt and Cunningham: An American-Loaded 110m Hurdles Race

The Americans headline over ten flights.

Ja'Kobe Tharp comes in with a world record and personal best of 12.75. Cordell Tinch (12.87 PB), Jamal Britt (12.86 PB) and Trey Cunningham (12.98 PB) are all inside 13 seconds.

The international challenge is stacked too: Kendry Menéndez, Rachid Muratake, Orlando Bennett, Just Kwaou-Mathey and Jakub Szymański round out the field.

In an event where the difference between winning and the rest of the podium is often a lean at the line, expect Sunday to come down to the smallest of margins.

Also Worth Watching

Gianmarco Tamberi comes to Silesia after winning another European high jump title, where he cleared 2.32m. Malaika Mihambo headlines the women's long jump, but the American charge is what makes it interesting - Monae' Nichols, Claire Bryant and Alyssa Jones.

Busang Kebinatshipi, Rai Benjamin, Chris Bailey and Jacory Patterson meet over 400m. Reigning Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco is in the 3000m steeplechase and Mykolas Alekna, Kristjan Čeh and Daniel Ståhl will be throwing the discus.

Likina Amebaw leads a stacked 5000m field that includes Hirut Meshesha and Nadia Battocletti. Jessica Hull, Nikki Hiltz and Dorcus Ewoi are in the 1500m.

The Cauldron gets stirred on Sunday. History tends to follow.
