The Diamond League Lausanne meet has seen plenty of meet records broken so far, and Winfred Yavi added another to the list in the women’s 3000m steeplechase. The Bahrain star powered to victory in 9:00.04, setting a new meet record in a thrilling race.

Kenya’s Faith Cherotich followed closely behind in 9:01.90, while Tunisia’s Marwa Bouzayani finished third in 9:05.55.

Yavi’s record-setting performance highlighted another exciting event in Lausanne, while American Lexy Halladay also impressed with a personal-best 9:08.35 to finish fifth.
