Sydney Marathon 2026 Results: Elite Athlete Placements

Addisu Gobena won the men's 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon in 2:04:42, edging fellow Ethiopian Chimdessa Debele Gudeta by just four seconds.

Gudeta finished second in 2:04:46, while Lesotho's Tebello Ramakongoana rounded out the podium in 2:04:57. All three men broke 2:05 in a tightly contested race.

Gobena's victory comes one year after he finished second in Sydney 2025 behind Hailemaryam Kiros, who ran a 2:06:16.

Peres Jepchirchir Wins Women's TCS Sydney Marathon 2026

Peres Jepchirchir won the women's TCS Sydney Marathon in 2:18:31, adding another major marathon victory to her résumé.

The Kenyan finished 3:40 ahead of compatriot Irene Cheptai, who ran 2:22:11. Ethiopia's Shure Demise Ware rounded out the podium in 2:22:33.

Manuela Schär Makes Abbott World Marathon Majors History

Manuela Schär made history at the 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon, winning the women's wheelchair race in 1:42:04 and becoming the first athlete to win all eight Abbott World Marathon Majors.

Schär had already won the six original Majors before adding the inaugural Cape Town Marathon earlier this year. Sydney was the final piece of the puzzle.

She finished 5:13 ahead of Eden Rainbow-Cooper, who ran 1:47:17. Tatyana McFadden was third in 1:51:08.

  1. Manuela Schär (SUI) — 1:42:04

  3. Tatyana McFadden (USA) — 1:51:08

Schär has now won Abbott World Marathon Majors races in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York City, Cape Town and Sydney.

Daniel Romanchuk Wins Men's Wheelchair Marathon

Daniel Romanchuk won the men's wheelchair marathon in 1:26:50, finishing more than four minutes ahead of David Weir.

Weir finished second in 1:31:33, while Luo Xingchuan was third in 1:31:35.
