The 2020 Olympic Trials Could Be In Austin, Texas
The three cities bidding to host the 2020 Olympic Trials for track and field are Eugene, Sacramento and Austin.

USATF CEO Max Siegel announced at Sunday's Board of Directors Meeting in Des Moines that the national governing body is currently considering three cities to host the 2020 Olympic Trials: Austin, Eugene and Sacramento.
A last-minute bid process re-opened in early May after the originally designated host city, Mt. SAC, ran into legal issues with the neighborhood association in Walnut, California, over the allocation of taxpayer money to build a new track and field stadium.
Eugene and Sacramento have combined to host the past five consecutive Olympic Trials. The two venues have also hosted the past three editions of the USATF Outdoor Championships in non-Olympic years.
It would be an odd look for USATF to give the meet to Eugene, as Hayward Field is currently undergoing massive renovations in order to host the 2021 IAAF World Championships and they'd theoretically be swapping one unfinished stadium for another.

The Hayward renovations have had more than their own share of controversy as the project was originally scheduled to begin more than two years ago but only broke ground this week after several redesigns.
The current finish date is projected to be April of 2020.
The University of Texas' flagship school has never hosted an Olympic Trials or USATF Outdoor Championship before. The Longhorns were recently awarded the 2019 and 2020 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the first at UT since 2004, when it became clear that Hayward Field would not be finished in time to host the events.
The city of Austin previously bid to host the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials, which was ultimately awarded to Atlanta, Georgia.
Texas recently gained arguably the best hurdles coach in the world, Austin is two-years running the "best place to live in the United States" and it's the home of FloSports HQ, so obviously you should start looking for a Town Lake Trail-adjacent Airbnb for mid-July of 2020.
