Looking Back At FloTrack's 2018 Predictions

A year ago the FloTrack staff made some bold predictions. Here's how we fared.

“Centro Breaks 1500m American Record” - Jojo

3/10 Take: While Centro did not break the American Record he did run 3:31 in Monaco. We doubt Jojo would have made this pick if she knew USATF was going to make the US record even faster to 3:27 after a rule change in December.

“Lolo Jones Finally Gets Her Olympic Medal“ - Jojo

0/10 Take: Lolo didn’t even make the team.

“Keturah Orji Sweeps TJ/LJ At NCAAs“ - Jojo

9/10 Take: Orji went 3 for 4 in the TJ/LJ in 2018, with her one loss being a runner-up finish to her teammate Kate Hall. Orji also went on to win the Bowerman Award with her impressive jumps in 2018.

“A U.S. Woman Wins The Boston Marathon“ - Jojo

10/10 Take: Desi Linden FTW!

“Kipchirchir Breaks Rupp’s 10K U.S. Record“ - Gordon

3/10 Take: Shaddy didn’t attempt a fast 10k and also lost to Lopez Lomong at USAs over 10,000m.

“Emmanuel Korir Runs Sub-1:41 800m“ - Gordon

6/10 Take: While Korir did not run sub 1:41 he certainly showed he is the best in the world and has potential to flirt with David Rudisha’s world record over the next three years.

“Iowa State Men Win The NCAA DMR Title“ - Gordon

0/10 Take: They didn’t even qualify.

“Brodey Hasty Runs Sub-4 mile“ - Gordon

9/10 Take: Brodey was oh too close running 4:00.05 at Millrose.

“Eliud Kipchoge Will Lose A Marathon“ - Kevin

0/10 Take: Kipchoge broke the freaking world record!

“A Non-U.S./Jamaica Will Have The 100m WL“ - Kevin

2/10 Take: Christian Coleman, Ronnie Baker, Noah Lyles, and Mike Rodgers weren’t having any of it.

“Christian Taylor Will Set The WR In The TJ“ - Kevin

3/10 Take: Christian Taylor didn’t even jump a world lead in 2018.
