The biggest weekend of the fall is here — XC Race Day presented by HOKA — and FloTrack is bringing the energy to Columbia, Missouri as the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships take over the city November 21–22.

The 2025 NCAA DI Regional Championships delivered fast, competitive racing across the country as collegiate runners battled for top spots and team supremacy. Individual performances and deep team packs highlighted the day, with several programs asserting themselves as national contenders.

Conference championship weekend brought plenty of drama across the country, with both individual and team NCAA cross country rankings flipped on their head, creating major movement from top to bottom.

It was the busiest weekend of the NCAA cross country season so far, as the Nuttycombe Invitational, Pre-Nationals, and several other major meets shook up both the team and individual lists in FloTrack’s NCAA DI XC Rankings.

With one of the biggest weekends of the cross-country now at a close, the post-season will soon be upon us. The weekend that was left us with a ton of questions and some answers. These storylines could propel us into the latter half of the season as we begin to look ahead to the three NCAA Championships.

With many of the nation’s top programs splitting between the annual Nuttycombe Invitational in Wisconsin and Pre-Nationals in Missouri, this weekend offers a clear look at how the country’s best stack up heading into championship season.

The Nuttycombe Invitational tends to be one of the most important meets of the year, every year, as teams begin to establish themselves as NCAA Regional favorites. On that same token, Nuttycombe serves as an opportunity for teams to test themselves and their underclassmen with championship caliber racing.

After the fireworks at Gans Creek and the Cowboy Jamboree, Division I cross country fans got a quieter weekend as the calendar turned to October. Here is some of the movement in FloTrack's College XC Rankings presented by HOKA.

After a relatively quiet start to September, the stars finally came out last weekend as teams lined up at the Gans Creek Classic and the Cowboy Jamboree.

The 2025 Paul Short Run promises to present one of the most important battlegrounds of the early season among all three divisions. In particular, the NCAA DIII field contingent will be stacked against eachother in what could be equated to a pre-national championship meet.

On Friday, The University of Notre Dame is slated to kick off their second home meet of the season on what could arguably be on one of the fastest courses in the country: The Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational.

This Friday, two of the most pristine cross country courses in the country will host respective contingents of national contenders at a pair of season openers.

With so much going on and so little time to try and dig deep into everything so far across all three NCAA divisions, we chose to put the spotlight on several things that stuck out to us from the last month or so since the 2025 NCAA XC Season began with at least 2-3 talking points per division.

Since early December, fans of the sport have been treated to some of the greatest performances in the history of collegiate track & field. Although we’ve still got a few weeks left before the season is wrapped up in Tokyo, it’s time to turn some of our attention to the grass.
