The Berlin Marathon has been the site of more world records than any other marathon race. Since its first edition in 1974, its fast course has become a destination for runners chasing history. Thirteen world records have been set there so far, and Tigst Assefa returns in 2026 with a chance to make it 14.

2019 World Champion, Christian Coleman is the latest 'high-profile' athlete to be charged with a 'whereabouts failure' in what is now a growing list of athletes violating this anti-doping protocol.

Wilson Kipsang, a former world record holder in the marathon, has been charged with an anti-doping violation, according to the Athletics Integrity Unit.

At long last, the missing piece from Eliud Kipchoge’s incredible résumé has been filled. The greatest marathoner in history and the marathon world record holder are now one and the same—the 33-year-old Kenyan ran 2:01:39 (4:38/mile) on Sunday morning in Berlin to obliterate Dennis Kimetto’s 2:02:57 mark that had stood since 2014.
